Featured REVOLUTIONARY

Featured by TheMaidenInBlack
ozzla recently left our admin team, and I felt like a feature of her beautiful work would be a much better way to praise her community efforts than simply writing an eulogy - although something like that will happen, but it will be brief and painless, I promise  - , because seriously, fuck that, I decided this is better.
:aww:
Lozzie has been with us for so long that I seriously don't even remember how she joined the admin team. It was probably a ninja trick or something, like one day there was nothing and five seconds later ta-da!; once she was there, however, there was no way of forgetting she wasn't. She literally helped with everything, either with her well-thought suggestions or her hard work. It always amazes me how much our admins did for the Group, especially when I remember that it's something they don't get paid for, and that they could very well refuse to do or say "really, guys, I have priorities, deal with it" (and before any admin even thinks about saying it, you know what Joseph would do if you did. :stare:). Lozzie was and is one of those who remembered this warning, and we are proud she was with us for as long as she did!
seriously though, we're just a bunch of happy satanic bunnies, we don't bite. Just give us your chocolate.

Lozzie, among her gallery folders, has one titled "Lit inspired by music" that really feels like something everyone should have, because who hasn't been inspired by music at least once? :faint:

About a boyShining on wet leaves are equally wet cheeks. The edges are ripped, torn just like her hoarse voice, ragged nails and shredded hemline. Relentlessly she has been calling his name, her voice has been swallowed by the forest as has the sun by the murky river water.
Her hair clings to her face, sticky with sweat. It makes a dense veil, shielding her from what she knows she will see. While she runs desperately, she peels it away, nails scratching her face. The trees mock her, their crooked backs shaking with laughter; the swaying of their thick branches reminiscent of a death march, but her determination is louder. As long as her heart pounds in her temples and pulses in her hands, she will not relent.
Breathing hard, she looks upwards.
There, suspended ominously is the moon. She reminds herself that she is aware of what is happening, but her heart flutters like a bird against her ribcage. Despite holding her breath to remain strong, she shudders with rage. If only she were a bird to caree

About a boy
"The rejection does not surprise her, but the hard glint of his teeth does."

This is one of those works from that folder, inspired by music. It makes me think a lot of that moment, in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", where professor Lupin turns... also the agitation, the searching of the first part of it is really beautifully described, in a way that almost makes it relatable. Without revealing too much, this prose paints such a definite image that it's hard not to feel anything from it.

DreamlessEternal days; the sleepness nights endure.
Dreamless

I really like six word stories. They have such a big potential, and at the same time, tapping into it is really hard because of the restriction! You need for them to say a lot of things with each word, and the six words to say something else all put together. This one is really simple, but it conveys a lot of information to me - definitely a success. (:

Revolution   Tumbling, rolling through the air,
         snowflakes pirouette.
    Later, pollen stuns the senses
     before sunburn blows a kiss.
     Dry and crunched underfoot
         leaves, brown as skin,
lay exposed, drying under a waning sun
   tumbling, rolling through the air.
The shivering whisper ghostly breaths,
    their hands and hearts frozen,
  thawing an impossible hope, though
         snowflakes pirouette.
   Green shoots and gangly limbs
take trembling steps in a new world
       trodden by the smiling.
   Later, pollen stuns the senses.
       Golden hair and skin,
  polished and immaculate from
      tanning cream overused
    before sunburn blows a kiss.

Revolution
"Tumbling, rolling through the air,
        snowflakes pirouette.
   Later, pollen stuns the senses
    before sunburn blows a kiss.
"

How could I not feature a work titled Revolution.
Now, apart from jokes, this poem is really great. It's a Cascade, and the stanza I quoted has its verses reused through the poem in a very specific pattern. It makes me think of a Villanelle, just a bit less repetitive and more fun to work with! A poem about seasons, I loved the rhythm, the images she used and the sense of continuity that the repetitions and the theme created. Beautiful!

NaNoWriPo 7~ Ocean breeze
A sharp wind whips by my face,
tangling hair into a nest
for the sea gulls to sit,
eating my ketchup and chips.
Broadly smiling, the Sun's
amber ambience dances cursively
along the flat expanse of water,
bringing mystery to its depths.
Its whispers, reassurances
are that of the cool foam
crackling and fizzing
against my toes.
Callously edged, my skin
is softened by sunscreen,
preventing benevolence
from soaking into my pores.

Written for NaPo 2012, this short poem brings a smile to my face. It has that ending twist that makes a seemingly "lighter" poem suddenly gain an additional, deeper meaning - but the lighter aspect of it stays, as if to balance things out. The imagery shows without over-telling, and easily brings out memories of the summer season. A nice poem to read while waiting for it to come back!

In the words of the most honest and kind-hearted deviants ever, HugQueen and Solarune,
Lozzie is great, she was dedicated, determined, wonderful and did I mention wonderful? She always was willing to help out and lend a hand to anyone who needed it in the backroom, which I know we all needed help at some point an utilized the fantastic Lozzie. She holds such a caring, helpful air about her and even when she was busy she made time for us.

Lozzie IS JUST WONDERFUL OKAY. She always worked incredibly hard to get things done, and it was inspiring and refreshing to read her comments on admin discussions in the Back Room - she always has something positive to say and her enthusiasm is unstoppable. She was an invaluable help to the chat events and prompts, and more importantly, is a lovely, friendly, kindhearted and cheery person. She deserves all your gourmet cookies. Now.

Oh man, you guys are amazing and awesome and too damn lovely, why aren't I capable of baking gourmet cookies* to thank you for all this sweetness! To have only seen this now... I really appreciate it, and I miss you guys plenty too! I haven't been writing at all since my overly extended hiatus from dA, and today I sat down to read through some of my stuff and I was like "damn, I really loved doing that, I need to start again"

* I put some good effort in the other day for some delicious choc-chip gluten free cookies, but they tasted terrible so my test subjects ordered Maccas afterward to get rid of that dry coconut flour taste lol oh and saving chocolate... what chocolate?! *totally-hoards-and-eats-chocolate-lock-them-away-from-me*
