52 Week Challenge

In 2011, we teamed up with SixWordStories to bring you a project designed to challenge you and spur your growth as a writer. Each week, we posted a challenge – a prompt, if you will – for you to use as inspiration in a story made up of only six words.

These were the guidelines:
• Only one submission, per week.
• The six word story must be newly submitted to deviantART.
• The Author's Comments must state: "52 Week Six Word Story Challenge - [Challenge of that week ]
• Your submission must be a story. Check out SixWordStories' What is a six word story? and neurotype-on-discord's guide to writing a story in six words.

And as soon as you posted the deviation, we invited you to add it to our 52 Week Challenge favourites collection
— and at the end of the year we featured all of the participants and highlighted the best entry from each week:

Week 14: "Tell a story from an animal's point of view."
Week 15: "Write a haiku using six words."
Week 16: "Write a six word story of a personal life event that has really affected you."
Week 17: "Write a six word story in which the first letter of each word is in consecutive order in the alphabet. For example, a six word story could have six words beginning with C, D, E, F, G, H."
Week 18: "Write a six word story of one half of a two-person dialogue in which readers are left to imagine what the other person is saying."
Week 19: "Write a six word story containing opposites (antithesis)."
Week 20: "Write a six word story in which every word must begin with the letter that ends the previous word. The sixth word should end with the letter that begins the first word."
Week 21: "Write a six word story using only nouns."
Week 22: "Write a six word story that begins and ends with the same number."
Week 23: "Write a six word story from the monster's side of things."
Week 24: "Write a six word story appropriate for a clever Facebook post or Twitter's tweet."
Week 25: "Write a six word story with the count of 30 letters overall for all words combined."
Week 26: "Write a six word story in typography."
Week 27: "Write a six word story from the point of view of an object."
Week 28: "Write a six word story of a humorous tragedy."
Week 29: "Write a six word story of a sense (from the five senses) without mentioning the sense or the words related to it."
Week 30: "Write a six word story of a revenge you have always wanted."
Week 31: "Write a six word story in old English/Elizabethan language."
Week 32: "Write a six word story with the same word at the beginning and end. The word must have a different meaning at the beginning and end."
Week 33: "Write a six word story that must start with 'Dear...' "
Week 34: "Write a six word story in which one determinate vowel cannot be used in any word (e.g. the "e" is forbidden to use)."
Week 35: "Write a six word story with a title of something prominent in the world hidden in the story."
Week 36: "Write a six word story about your homeland/culture."

Week 38: "Write a six word story where every word has to start with the same letter."
Week 39: "Write a six word story which features food without mentioning the food."
Week 40: "Pick a letter of the alphabet at random. Then, construct a six word story using every second or third letter from your chosen letter as the beginning of the words in the story, whilst keeping it coherent."
Week 41: "Write a six word story that could be graffiti on the bathroom walls of prestigious Colleges/Universities like Harvard or Oxford."
Week 42: "Write a six word story that relates to Halloween. It must be scary!"
Week 43: "Write your life story in six words."
Week 44: "Last week, we had write your life story in six words. This week, we would like you to write somebody else's biography in six words!"
Week 45: "Write a six word story in which the last letter of all the words used are alternate consecutive letters in the alphabet. (a, c, e, etc.)"
Week 46: "Write a six word story that contains no verbs except for different tenses/participles/etc. of be."
Week 47: "Write a letter to yourself (either younger or older)."
Week 48: "Write a six word story in the acrostic style of an onomatopoeic word. The content of the story itself must allude to the onomatopoeic word."
Week 49: "Write a six word story involving last words for yourself."
Week 50: "Write a six word story in the form of a newspaper headline. The story must proclaim something exciting!"
Week 51: "Write a six word story involving two things that would shock the core of society."
Week 52: "Write a six word story about writing a six word story. Describe to us how it has been this year!"
